-How long does it take me to get to the airport from downtown?


By car it will take you about 20 minutes if there is no traffic jam.

 

-Upon arrival to the airport, where can I get information?


All flight information you can get at Info desk on the ground floor in Terminal building.  You can also be informed from flight information monitors, through public address system, and on the SarajevoInternationalAirport official web page www.sia.ba.

 

-Can I buy air ticket at the airport?


Yes, you can buy your air ticket either at the Airport’s ticketing office or directly in the office of the airline you have chosen to travel with.

 

-How long before planned flight do I have to check-in?


For international flights you should come to the airport 90-120 minutes before planned take-off according to the flight schedule.  More details about opening and closing hours of passenger and baggage check-in desks you can get if you contact your airline.

 

-Can I leave my car at the airport parking over the long term?


Sarajevo airport provides long-term parking service.  User of this service should previously announce it either in person (to parking collector) or by phone (tel. 033 289 447).  The service is paid in cash (KM) at the parking machine.

SarajevoAirport shall not be responsible for any damage or theft of a vehicle.

 

-Where can I check-in if my ticket is bought on the Internet?


If you bought your ticket on the Internet, you should simply show your travel documents to the passenger check-in staff.

 

-What is the maximum allowed weight of my baggage?


Maximum allowed weight of cabin baggage is usually between 5 and 10 kg, while the weight of hold baggage depends on your travel class (usually 30 kg for business class and 20 kg for economy class).  For more details please contact your airline.

 

-Is there the information about maximum baggage weight on air tickets?


Air tickets usually contain the information about free of charge baggage weight for each flight.

 

-Where can I get the information about air ticket prices?


For that kind of information you should contact the airline you intend to fly by.  On our official web page www.sia.bayou will find contacts of all the airlines based at the Airport as well as contacts of their ticketing offices.

 

-How can I change or confirm my ticket booking?


For any change or confirmation of your booking please contact your airline.

 

-What can I do if I missed my flight due to unforeseen circumstances?


Passenger is fully responsible for being late even if the delay was a result of unforeseen circumstances (Road Closed for Repairs, traffic jam, etc.).  There is no solution but buying a new air ticket.

 

-What is the procedure if I fly with my pet animal?


Generally, air transport of pet animals is allowed but there are countries that do not allow it.  You should contact your airline for more details.  Depending on their policy and the weight of your pet, the pet can travel either in a passenger cabin or in the hold baggage compartment.

 

-What is the maximum size of cabin baggage?


Maximum allowed weight of cabin baggage is usually defined as a total sum of three dimensions (length, width and height) of a particular bag which cannot exceed 120 cm.  For more information please contact your airline.

 

-Is a musical instrument allowed as a part of my cabin baggage?


A passenger is allowed to take a musical instrument as second item of his/her cabin baggage but it has to be checked.  It should be mentioned that special tariff is charged in case of a bulky instrument.  For that reason passengers should contact the airline.

 

-How many bags am I allowed to check-in?


It depends on airlines’ policy.  Some airlines allow only one bag per a passenger while others are focused on total weight.  For more information please contact your airline.

 

-What am I to do in case of overweight?


Most airlines will allow overweight but they will charge the excess weight.  In that case you have to pay for excess baggage directly to your airline in their office in Terminal building.

 

-Are there certain rules related to transport of sports equipment (winter sports, skis, etc.)?


Sports equipment has to be properly packed.  Its air transport depends on airline’s policy and on type of aircraft.  If an airline charges transport of sports equipment, a special tariff is applied.  For that reason you should check all the details with your airline before you buy a ticket.

 

-In case of losing some of my personal belongings at the airport, what am I to do?


You should contact Lost & Found Office staff.

 

-How can I make a WiFi connection at the airport?


You should buy a coupon in catering facilities in Terminal building.

 

-Can I take laptop in aircraft cabin?


You can take your laptop onboard but it has to be taken out from your cabin luggage for security check.  Laptop bag will be considered a separate item being allowed for taking onboard.

 

-Does the SarajevoAirport provide services to handicapped passengers?


Yes, it does, but you should explain the kind of help you need to airline staff while booking your ticket.  For more details please contact your airline.

 

-Is a minor allowed to travel unaccompanied?


A minor may fly unaccompanied if he/she has a valid travel document and parents’ permission in a notarized copy.  However, this procedure is not established by the airport but by airlines and for that reason you should contact them directly.

Sarajevo International Airport in service of environmental protection

 

 P.C. "Sarajevo" International Airport LLC Sarajevo records increase of air traffic which has some impacts on the environment. In order to prevent damages the Airport implements environmetnal protection policies and builds up environmental management system. According to the international standards and regulations, environmental management policy implies sustained planning, testing and evaluating of efficacity of all the activities being taken to protect human environment.

Continuous monitoring of environmental conditions and prompt reporting on pollutions, waste and energy sources consumption, together with using the best available information and technologies, make the environmental management more efficacious.

Main goals of sustaining the environmental management system are as follows:

- Cutting down negative impacts on the environment;

- Cutting down the risk of ecological incidents;

- Cutting down the costs through preservation of raw materials and energy;

- Increased performance of prompt and efficacious interventions;

- Improving the reputation in local community and earning trust in the local community;

- Competitive advantage;

- Legal security due to compliance with the Law on environmental protection;

- Inquiring about possibilities to be given authorities and approvals from local and state institutions, as well as various funds;

- Improving thereputation of the Company;

- Better utilization of energy sources and protection of waters, carefull choosing of raw materials and controlled drive of waste for recycling;

- Reduction of financial burden caused by reactive management strategies like repair, cleaning, payment of fines for breach of law;

- Reduction of risks for fines and possible court trials;

- Improved conditions of working environment.

 

Lasting improvement of the environmental management system is achieved through preparation of relevant programs, provision of resources and timely reporting on the status of their implementation.

In preparation of the programs it is especially important to identify all activities to be taken in compliance with legal requirements and to monitor systematically the changes that could have some impacts on the environmental management system established at the Sarajevo International Airport.
