17.12.2010 ISO 9001 and 14001 Certificates to Sarajevo International Airport

Comprehensive efforts of the Management and employees of the P.C. “SARAJEVO” International Airport Llc. on implementation of  the world first-rate standards and improvement of quality of services have resulted in successfully ended process of certification according to ISO standards.

 

Upon inspection performed by TÜV Thüringen e.V, an authorized auditing company, their auditors concluded that both documentation of quality system/environmental management and their implementation were fully compatible with ISO standards 9001:2008 (quality management system) and 14001:2004 (environmental management system).  A written guarantee was issued to confirm that the quality system implemented in the company is fully in compliance with relevant international standards.

In that way the P.C. “SARAJEVO” International Airport Llc. has become one of very few business operators in Bosnia and Herzegovina which fully adapted working processes to the international quality standards ISO 9001 and 14001.

 

Quality management system is a system by which  an organization is directed towards realization of conceived aims regarding quality of business and provision of services.  The system includes organizational structure, responsibilities, processes and resources being necessary to manage the system.  It is the system which precisely defines who, what, when and how to work!

Advantages of a certified quality management system, above all, include improvement of management efficiency, problems handling, staff moral and motivation, discipline and image of an organization, but also a reduction of repeated jobs, labour turnover and waste of time and money.

 

The certificate on compliance with the latest international standards is an additional encouragement to the Sarajevo International Airport to continue with its policy of self-investing so that the upturn related to rendered services and positive business trend could further improve.

Sarajevo International Airport in service of environmental protection

 

 P.C. "Sarajevo" International Airport LLC Sarajevo records increase of air traffic which has some impacts on the environment. In order to prevent damages the Airport implements environmetnal protection policies and builds up environmental management system. According to the international standards and regulations, environmental management policy implies sustained planning, testing and evaluating of efficacity of all the activities being taken to protect human environment.

Continuous monitoring of environmental conditions and prompt reporting on pollutions, waste and energy sources consumption, together with using the best available information and technologies, make the environmental management more efficacious.

Main goals of sustaining the environmental management system are as follows:

- Cutting down negative impacts on the environment;

- Cutting down the risk of ecological incidents;

- Cutting down the costs through preservation of raw materials and energy;

- Increased performance of prompt and efficacious interventions;

- Improving the reputation in local community and earning trust in the local community;

- Competitive advantage;

- Legal security due to compliance with the Law on environmental protection;

- Inquiring about possibilities to be given authorities and approvals from local and state institutions, as well as various funds;

Lasting improvement of the environmental management system is achieved through preparation of relevant programs, provision of resources and timely reporting on the status of their implementation.

In preparation of the programs it is especially important to identify all activities to be taken in compliance with legal requirements and to monitor systematically the changes that could have some impacts on the environmental management system established at the Sarajevo International Airport.

 

The Company's obligations defined in the environmental licence for 2012 issued by the Federal Ministry for environment and tourism have been fulfilled successfully.
